The Ziggurat of Ur

A stepped temple platform of mud brick faced with baked brick, raised at Ur for the moon god Nanna. Nabonidus of Babylon restored it around 550 BCE, but it crumbled once the city was left. Leonard Woolley dug it out in the 1920s, and its lowest stage was refaced in the 1980s.
