Wonder of the world

The Moai of Ahu Tongariki

The largest ceremonial platform on Rapa Nui, carrying fifteen moai carved from the rock of nearby Rano Raraku, their backs to the sea. All were thrown down in the island's civil wars and a tsunami scattered them in 1960; a Chilean and Japanese team set them up again in the 1990s.
