Wonder of the world

Machu Picchu

An Inca royal estate of fitted dry-stone buildings and farming terraces on a ridge 2,430 m up in the Andes, probably built for the emperor Pachacuti. Left around the time of the Spanish conquest, it drew world attention after Hiram Bingham's visit in 1911.
