Old Assyrian caravan trade

Merchant houses of Assur sent donkey caravans about 1,000 km to Kanesh in six weeks, carrying tin from the east and Babylonian textiles. They sold them for Anatolian silver and gold and kept some twenty trading posts. Over 22,000 tablets from Kanesh record the trade.
