Trade route

Muscovy Company trade

After Richard Chancellor reached the White Sea in 1553, English ships sailed round Norway to the Northern Dvina. Goods went upriver to Vologda, overland to Yaroslavl and Moscow, and for a time down the Volga to Astrakhan toward Persia. English wool was traded for Russian furs.
