Azalai salt caravans

Twice a year Tuareg camel caravans go from Timbuktu to the Taoudenni salt mines and from Agadez to the Kawar oases of Fachi and Bilma, trading food and supplies for slabs of rock salt. They are among the last Saharan caravan routes still used, though trucks now carry most of the salt.
