Phùng Hưng of Đường Lâm and his brother Phùng Hải, on Đỗ Anh Hàn's advice, besieged the protectorate's seat; the governor Gao Zhengping fell ill and died, and Phùng Hưng ruled Annan until his death, honoured as Bố Cái Đại Vương.
