The Battle of Brier Creek was fought on March 3, 1779, near Brier Creek in eastern Georgia as part of the Southern theater of the American Revolutionary War. A British force of 900 regulars and militia under Lieutenant-colonel Jacques Marcus Prevost defeated an American force of 1,100 regulars and militia under Brigadier General John Ashe and Colonel Samuel Elbert. In a lopsided battle the Americans suffered at least 150 killed and a further 227 captured, among them Elbert, while the British sustained only 16 casualties.
